Is Muay Thai suitable for beginners?
Yes, Muay Thai/Kickboxing is welcoming to beginners. We offer introductory classes and programs to teach the fundamental techniques and help newcomers ease into the training.
How do I sign up for a class?
You will need to register for class through our scheduling app Vagaro. WHich is on our site. Or you can follow the URL. https://www.vagaro.com/vicecitystriking/classes
You will need to fill out the waiver and intake form before attending class. You will be prompted to fill those out once you sign up for class.
Do I need to be in shape before starting Muay Thai?
No, Muay Thai training itself is an excellent way to get in shape. Regardless of your current fitness level, you can start and progressively improve your strength, endurance, and flexibility through consistent training.
Is there Sparring in class or is it required?
The answer is yes and no. You will never be forced to spar if that is something you do not want to do. Also you will need approval from a coach first before attending any of our advanced classes that offer controlled sparring. If you come to an advanced class without the approval of an instructor you will be asked to leave.
How much does it cost?
Your first class is free! After that we have a number of different memberships and packages to suit your needs. Unlike most gyms and martial art facilities; we do not lock you into long contracts. All we require is a 30 day cancellation notice.
What gear do I need to start Muay Thai?
Basic gear includes hand wraps, gloves, shin guards. We have loaner gear you can use for your first week or so but you will be expected to purchase your own. As you progress, you may want to invest in additional equipment like headgear and elbow pads.
Is Muay Thai only for self-defense, or can I compete?
Muay Thai caters to both self-defense enthusiasts and those interested in competitive fighting. Many people train simply for fitness and personal growth, while others pursue amateur or professional competition.
What is the etiquette in a Muay Thai gym?
Respect for trainers and training partners is fundamental. Always listen to your instructors, be punctual, and show humility in your learning process.
