Thinking about trying Muay Thai but feeling a little nervous? We get it. That first step into a gym can be the hardest—but at Vice City Striking, our Beginner’s Muay Thai Class is designed to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and confident from day one.
Here’s a full breakdown of what to expect when you join your first beginner-friendly class.
🥊 A Step-by-Step Breakdown of Our Beginner’s Class
1. Warm-Up (10–15 minutes)
Every class starts with a group warm-up to get your body moving. You’ll do some jump rope, shadowboxing, light stretching, and basic mobility drills. Nothing too intense—just enough to get your blood flowing.
2. Technique Breakdown (20–25 minutes)
We go over fundamental Muay Thai movements like stance, guard, footwork, punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. Coaches break everything down clearly and slowly. You’ll learn why each move matters and how to do it correctly.
3. Pad Work & Partner Drills (20–25 minutes)
Next, you’ll team up with a partner and work on light, controlled drills using pads. You’ll never be thrown into sparring or anything high-pressure. The focus is on building comfort and coordination with the basics.
4. Conditioning & Cool Down (10 minutes)
We wrap up the class with core work and bodyweight exercises to build endurance and strength—plus stretching to keep your body feeling good post-workout.
🥋 What to Wear, Bring & How to Prepare
Wear:
- Comfortable workout clothes (shorts, leggings, T-shirt, or tank)
- No shoes—classes are done barefoot on mats
Bring:
- Water bottle
- Hand wraps (available for purchase if needed)
- Gloves (we provide loaner gloves for first-timers)
Prep:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early for a tour, hand wrap help, and coach introductions
- Eat a light snack or meal 1–2 hours before class
- Be ready to learn and have fun—we’ll take care of the rest
